In order to finance field trips to a memorial or to undertake other remembrance activities, schools, youth groups or other public institutions that are registered in Hesse can apply for funding at the Hessian National Centre for Political Education (Hessische Landeszentrale für politische Bildung, HLZ).

The Ministry of Schools and Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (Ministerium für Schule und Bildung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen) provides field trip funding for classes ranging from grades 9 through 13 of all types of schools in the state to visit memorial sites commemorating the victims of political tyranny. These sites can be located in Germany and in other European countries.

The Ministry of Education Rhineland-Palatinate (Ministerium für Bildung Rheinland-Pfalz) provides funding for memorial museum trips for upper secondary classes in levels I and II (Sekundarstufen I und II). Funding applications are managed by The Coordinating Office for Remembrance Work and Encounters with Contemporary Witnesses (Koordinierungsstelle Gedenkarbeit und Zeitzeugenbegegnungen Gedenkstättenfahrten).
